Butcher's price steak night
Prime cuts at butcher's price, cooked exactly how you asked for them. One night a week, and it books out.
Why our steak night is different
It is the meat. Every steak comes from Beef Olive, our local butcher...properly sourced British beef with the provenance behind it, cut generously and cooked to order. What you pay is butcher's price rather than a restaurant mark-up, which is the whole point of the night.
Honest food, done properly, in a village pub rather than a steakhouse.
Steak night near Wendover, Aylesbury and Great Missenden
Butlers Cross sits at the foot of the Chilterns, a few minutes from Wendover and an easy drive from Aylesbury, Great Missenden and Amersham...which makes this one of the more sensible steak nights in Buckinghamshire to get to. There is parking, and the welcome is a warm one.
Thursday suits most people: couples, a table of friends, and the regulars who have not missed one in months. Walk-ins are welcome, but it fills quickly and in a good week it is one table-turn only. If you have a Thursday in mind, book it.
Enjoy a bottle of Argentinian Malbec for £20.
Steak night questions
When is steak night?
Every Thursday evening. It is one of our busiest nights of the week, so booking is worth it.
What cuts do you offer?
Sirloin, ribeye, black garlic flat iron and fillet as standard. We also run a small number of super steaks each week...a 24oz T-bone and a 24oz côte de bœuf.
Can I pre-order a super steak?
Yes. There are only a limited number each week, so speak to a member of staff and we will put one by for your next visit.
What comes with a steak?
Dressed salad, tomato and garlic crumb, a flat cap mushroom, and your choice of parsley salted fries, triple cooked chips or a side salad.
Is the main menu available on a Thursday evening?
No. On a Thursday evening the steak night menu is the only menu we run. There is plenty on it that is not a steak...the arancini, the Welsh rarebit, halloumi fries, macaroni cheese, the salads and the sides, but every main course is a steak. Worth a look at the menu before you book if the table is not all steak eaters.
Can we bring the children?
Children are welcome, but the children's menu is not served on a Thursday evening...steak night runs its own menu and that is the only one on. Any other night of the week it is £5 for a main and a pudding.
Thursday fills up
Steak night is one table-turn only in the good weeks. Book ahead.
